Microsoft moves entire PC buy online, saves 6%
Improving the efficiency of its supply chain for personal computers has helped Microsoft to reduce purchasing costs by 6.5%. A little over a year ago, the procurement operation at Microsoft Corp., Redmond, Wash., moved the process for its entire PC buy (a fleet of about 120,000 of which 40,000 are refreshed annually) to MS Market, its e-procurement system.
