Logistics provider Exel received the Supplier Excellence Award for its Alliance Product Distribution Center, which it operates for Texas Instruments. Exel performs various warehousing and logistics services for Texas Instruments.
Electronics manufacturing services firm Celestica named its Partners in Performance awards recently. Component supplier KEMET Corp. won for its flexibility and responsiveness, impact on asset management, effectiveness and efficiency, and overall performance excellence. Also receiving the award was magnetic component supplier Pulse, which supplies Celestica with inductive components used in information and communications equipment, as well as Motorola subsidiary Freescale Semiconductor, and Atmel Corp. "In 2003, the level of flexibility and responsiveness demonstrated by these companies in response to our supply chain requirements, enabled Celestica to operate as a seamless extension of our customers' global operations," said Robert Shanks, chief supply chain and procurement officer at Celestica.
For its part, Freescale Semiconductor awarded 18 suppliers its Supplier Performance Excellence Awards. "Our customers demand products that deliver high performance and high quality at a competitive cost," said Jim Duckworth, Freescale's chief procurement officer. "Our suppliers give us a competitive edge to address those needs. Recipients included: Kyocera Corp., NTK Technologies, Shinko Electric, Tanaka Kikinzoku International, Tower Semiconductor, Photronics, Rockwood Electronic Materials and SUMCO.
Konica Minolta Business Solutions has been recognized by group purchasing organization Corporate United as its 2004 Supplier of the Year. The Supplier of the Year award is given to the supplier who ranks the highest in overall member satisfaction based on a survey of all 53 Corporate United member companies.
