"Education is what survives when what has been learned has been forgotten." —B.F. Skinner
There are a wide variety of educational opportunities for the logistics and supply chain professional today and it's up to you to take advantage of them. One of the easiest ways to do this is to attend training seminars and conferences set up by industry groups. The National Industrial Transportation League (www.nitl.org) will holds its annual meeting November 13-16 in San Antonio, Texas and will host "The Impact of Free Trade on Logistics" in Washington D.C. June 21. The Council of Logistics Management hosts its annual educational meeting October 3-6 in Philadelphia and its web site (www.clm1.org) provides a variety of educational resources.
Several of the major academic logistics programs offer continuing education seminars and resources, notably Georgia Tech's Logistics Institute (www.tli.gatech.edu). Be sure to check out the professional education area of the site. The logistics staff at Ohio State University's Fisher College of Business (www.fisher.osu.edu/marketing) produce some of the best research on trends in logistics career patterns.
