Nokia and Motorola are the two leading cell phone manufacturers and account for more than 50% of all unit shipments. In the second quarter, Nokia maintained its top position with 33.6% share of the market and gained two percentage points of share compared to the same period last year. Motorola’s market share is now 21.9% as the company gained four percentage points in the second quarter compared to the second quarter of 2005.
Samsung retained its number three position, but lost market share compared to the top two players. Sales reached 25.5 million units in the second quarter.
