MSC Industrial Direct has issued its 2008 motor catalog with new brands, product categories and more than twice as many product SKUs as its 2006 motor catalog. SKU stands for stock keeping unit.
John Mingst, product manager for MSC in Melville, N.Y., says the industrial distributor developed the catalog based on customer input and feedback.
“We asked them what the ideal motor catalog resource would contain and we designed this year's catalog and product offering to deliver that,” he says. “It all begins with our Emerson motors program. As the largest motor manufacturer in the world, Emerson is our driving partner in the delivery of our motors program.”
The 2008 catalog contains more than 1,200 motors, including pump and hazardous duty motors from Emerson.
New to the catalog is a comprehensive offering of gearmotors from Bison, speed reducers from Boston Gear and Morse and accessories.
In addition, MSC expanded the interchange section of the catalog. This reference tool lets customers enter a motor identification number for popular brands and quickly determine the MSC products they can use as replacements.
“I'm excited about the new motor catalog as it delivers a superior motor resource to our customers,” says Erik Gershwind, senior vice president of product management and marketing. “We're excited to get it into the marketplace and expect the motor segment of our business to continue to show strong growth."
With $1.69 billion in annual sales, MSC places 12th on Industrial Distribution magazine’s Big 50 list.
