Aluminum extruder International Aluminum of Monterey Park, Calif., is being acquired by San Francisco-based Genstar Capital, a private equity firm.
The Alro Metals steel and nonferrous service center chain in Jackson, Mich., has bought tool steel distribution specialist St. Petersburg Steel of Clearwater, Fla., which now is called St. Petersburg Steel Alro.
Scrap metal recycling conglomerate OmniSource of Fort Wayne, Ind., has acquired Mervis Industries facilities in Kokomo and Tipton as well as its minority interest in Capitol City Metals in Indianapolis and Recovery Technologies in Fort Wayne.
Citation of Birmingham, Ala., a manufacturer of cast, forged and machined components for the capital and durable goods industries, will buy secondary aluminum for its Butler, Ind., division through the end of September from Beck Aluminum of Mayfield Heights, Ohio. Citation’s Butler division spends $35 million annually for aluminum alloy to make high integrity aluminum permanent mold castings.
Indalex plans to close its aluminum extrusion plant in Watsonville, Calif., in late March or April because of high costs, especially for energy, and low regional demand causing reduced sales prices.
Marmon/Keystone will open a new 100,000-sq-ft steel service center in Little Chute, Wis., as a satellite of the company’s Chicago operation, the largest specialty tubular products distribution center in North America.
