Lyondell Chemical Co. said the fluid catalytic cracking unit at its Houston refinery will be out of service for approximately 10 days to make adjustments to equipment installed during the refinery's recent upgrade. The refinery’s catalytic cracking unit breaks down crude oil into refined products. The Houston refinery processes gasoline, diesel, benzene and other chemicals.
Lyondell said that other refinery units will continue to operate during this period, and estimated that the pre-tax impact on second- quarter results will be in the range of $20 million to $30 million.
