  • Accenture survey finds indirect buyers dissatisfied with procurement policies

    Staff -- Purchasing, 9/2/2004 2:00:00 AM

A recent Accenture survey of 150 procurement policy makers and users in the indirect spend areas found that 58% of respondents were dissatisfied with their companies' procurement policies. The study found policy makers have a brighter view of the policies than users, 75% of which reported dissatisfaction with policies in place at their organizations. More than half of respondents said they could improve their productivity if a wider range of products and services were made available to them. Specific areas of inefficiency cited by respondents include: identifying suppliers, tracking the purchasing process, and difficulty obtaining approval from superiors. The survey queried 450 indirect products purchasing professionals in the U.S. and Europe at nonmanufacturing firms.
