By Purchasing Staff -- Purchasing, 12/11/2008 7:00:00 AM

Personal computer firms will experience a slowdown in demand next year so they may be forced to lower average selling prices, according to analysts. Citigroup analyst Richard Gardner now expects U.S. PC sales to shrink by 10% and worldwide growth to fall by 3% next year. Deutsche Bank analyst Chris Whitmore now expects worldwide PC sales to fall 5% next year down from its earlier forecast of 6%.
