The Ticona division of Celanese increased prices for its ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene products. This includes a 10¢/lb price increase for its polybutylene terephthalate, polyethylene terephthalate, thermoplastic polyester blends and thermoplastic elastomer grades of plastic resins. Long-fiber reinforced thermoplastic polypropylene grades will increase 5¢/lb, while Celstran-brand polyamide and thermoplastic polyurethane grades will increase 7¢/lb. In mid-May, Ticona announced price hikes for its polyacetal, polyester products and polyphenylene sulphide for the regions of Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
