In its latest buyer survey, Purchasing found that 92% of buyers plan to either increase (40%) or hold steady (52%) their spending on transportation services. Only 8% of buyers said they were planning to decrease their spending on transportation, indicating demand for freight is still very high and rates reflect it—85% of buyers polled said they see transportation prices on the uptick. “Our local transportation and LTL rates have gone up in the first quarter,” says a supply chain director responding to Purchasing’s survey.
