NACD names distributor of the year

The National Association of Chemical Distributors has named J. Michael Coates its 2007 distributor of the year. Coates is vice president of operations at LCI, in Jacksonville, Fla.
NACD presented its award to Coates in honor of his 17 years of volunteer service to NACD. He is currently serving a two-year term as president of the NACD Southern region, and is a member of the NACD board of directors.
Coates served as Chairman of the NACD operations seminar committee in 2004-2005, and has served on the operations seminar committee since 1993. The committee is responsible for developing the annual operations seminar and trade show. Coates also travels to Washington, D.C., to participate in the NACD Washington Fly-In to advocate on behalf of issues of importance to NACD member companies before members of Congress and federal regulators.
2006 Distributor of the Year recipient Steven C. Quandt presented the award to Coates at NACD’s 36th annual meeting in Las Croabas, Puerto Rico. Quandt is executive vice president of Columbus Chemical Industries, Inc. in Columbus, Wisc.
