Airbus said it will dramatically cut its supply base in an effort to reduce costs, shortly before it found out that FedEx was canceling its order for 10 A380s. According to an Associated Press item, Airbus will cut 80% of its supply base, bringing the number of suppliers from 3,000 to 500. Airbus in October announced it intended to save $2.5 billion by 2010.
