Cahners, Aspect Development form business-to-business mart

Cahners Business Information and Aspect Development Inc. have formed a new company called Manufacturing.Net LLC that will provide manufacturing companies with a new e-marketplace. The new company will unite Cahners' editorial content with Aspect's maintenance, repair and operating (MRO) product databases, Express Catalog search technology and e-commerce applications.
Through the new marketplace, buyers will be able to locate, compare and buy products in a secure, open e-commerce environment. Originally launched in 1996 by Cahners, the Manufacturing.Net Web site will provide users with product information, economic statistics and industry-specific news and research.
Cahners and Aspect will fund the company and provide content, brands, software, hardware and other equipment. Offices will be established in the Boston and Philadelphia areas.
