Catalog distributor Newark InOne says it has released the first catalog devoted strictly to electronic products that are compliant with the European Union’s Restriction on the use of certain Hazardous Substances (RoHS) legislation.
The 40,000 in-stock products in the catalog are divided into six sections: semiconductors, passive components, interconnect/wire & cable, electromechanical/power/ circuit protection, optoelectronics and soldering. Hundreds of top manufacturers are represented including Texas Instruments, On Semi, Maxim/Dallas, IR, National, Intersil, AMD, Fairchild, Freescale, Avago, Kester, Littelfuse, Honeywell, Tyco, Molex and Amphenol.
Newark InOne has issued new part numbers for all its compliant stock, even if the manufacturers have not done so. The distributor believes this is the only way to ensure that compliant and non-compliant parts can be identified easily, and properly segregated within its warehouse and their customers' stockrooms.
Paul Tallentire, president, Newark InOne, says it’s important that design engineers and buyers know exactly what their suppliers are shipping them. "Changing part numbers is part of our 10-step quality assurance policy, which gives our customers an extra measure of confidence in the compliant parts they purchase from us."
RoHS goes into effect July 1, 2006.
