Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. of Akron, Ohio recently named Chris W. Clark to the newly created position of senior vice president of global sourcing, replacing the retiring John G. Loulan, senior vice president of global product supply. Previously head of Goodyear's Latin America region, Clark will head a new organization in Goodyear linking all manufacturing and supply chain activities directly to improved customer service and business results. In his new role, Clark will have responsibility procurement, manufacturing, and global sourcing. "This is a fundamental change for our company," said Robert J. Keegan, Goodyear's chairman and CEO about the new organization. "It will allow us to build on the strategic initiatives already in place in manufacturing. It also represents a critical step toward support of our market driven approach as a company."
BHP Billiton, Melbourne, Australia, has appointed Betsy Harrington to the post of vice president group supply where she will be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining strategic policies and processes to align with the global marketplace while recognizing the local and regional needs of particular businesses. Harrington joins Billiton from her most recent post with Alcoa Inc. where she held several management positions in procurement and materials management.
Schering-Plough has appointed Robert Boisclair to the position of senior vice president, Global Supply Chain. He will report to Fred Hassan, the company's chairman and CEO.
Most recently senior vice president, manufacturing, the Americas, at Merck, Boisclair also headed up the company's international manufacturing operations for the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, Eastern and Central Europe, and Asia Pacific and served as acting president, global manufacturing, reporting to Merck's CEO.
