Tier 1 automotive supplier Associated Spring is using the strategic sourcing and purchasing software, Supply Works MAX to satisfy initiatives set by the Automotive Industry Action Group's (AIAG) materials management operations guideline that requires tier 1 and tier 2 suppliers to electronically synchronize with manufacturers' supply bases. Associated Spring is a tier 1 supplier to Ford Motor Co. The AIAG initiative defines what a customer/supplier connectivity system needs to support to efficiently manage the flow of production materials and share information such as forecasts, schedules and advanced ship notices. Associated Spring is using Supply Works MAX software to streamline supplier scheduling, inventory visibility and advance ship notices to improve supply management. Two plants in Corry, Pa. and Bristol, Conn. have successfully completed the installation of the software in 60 days.
To drive cost savings through a sourcing platform, Wachovia, the nation's fourth largest bank, has selected Frictionless Commerce to manage contracts and key supply base objectives such as supplier diversity. As a part of its supplier management initiative, Wachovia required a software platform to create, manage and track its contracts and supplier relationships. Wachovia is looking to streamline its contract management processes plus facilitate additional controls surrounding policies, procedures and regulatory requirements. Wachovia will implement Frictionless Sourcing enterprisewide, using the full platform functionality in addition to the Workflow Advantage module. With these solutions Wachovia intends to conduct risk management by managing key suppliers and contracts, and providing an audit trail surrounding vendor selection in e-RFP and e-auction events. In addition Frictionless aims to attract and include minority and women-owned suppliers and create workflows to route contracts and approvals.
Kohler is one of the oldest privately held companies in the U. S., but it is new to online sourcing. A manufacturer of kitchen and bath products as well as engines and generators, Kohler has a wide variety of spend categories across numerous company divisions. Tony Hess, purchasing supervisor at Kohler, says the two-year agreement with Procuri will help his organization meet objectives in areas such as streamlining its sourcing processes, increasing savings, reducing complexity, improving buyer efficiency, and process improvement. "Because we have a variety of spend categories across numerous company divisions, we needed a solution that was versatile enough to accommodate our current needs, yet scalable enough to grow with our company," says Hess.
