Toyota has delayed plans for a new plant in Mississippi because of the slumping U.S. economy. Originally slated to open in 2009, the plant near Tupelo now will not open until 2010. General Motors said it will close a transmission plant in Windsor, Ont. in 2010 due to lack of production and Hayes Lemmerz will close its aluminum wheel facility in Gainesville, Ga., by December.
