While RFID technology continues to struggle to make inroads on the inbound supply chain, a new report from ABI Research says RFID will see demand growth of 21% per year through the next five years.
ABI analyst Michael Liard says, “While uptake of full-scale RFID systems remains slower than many in the industry had hoped, steady growth continues. There is an overall sense of cautious optimism in the market.”
Among the asset tracking RFID applications ABI highlights as areas of increased activity: healthcare products tracking; works-in-progress tracking in manufacturing; and returnable transport containers.
