Kyocera Expands Solar Cells

Kyocera finally has the supplies it needs to triple annual solar cell capacity in the next four years to keep up with demand and competitors. After a two-year shortage of solar-grade silicon, Kyocera now has supply contracts for enough silicon to feed its expansion, including a $165 million expansion of production of raw solar cells at its Yakkaichi, Japan plant by early 2011.
