Buyers: Conditions will improve in six months

Forty-five percent of buyers say that general business conditions in the CPI will improve in six months, according to this month's business survey. Also, more than a third of buyers say conditions will remain the same. Compare these figures to last month's results, when 36% said conditions would improve, 36% said conditions would worsen, and 28% said that they would remain the same in six months.
Regarding pricing activity, almost 60% of buyers say pricing will flatten, while 28% see an increasing general price trend in the near future. An optimistic 13% believe pricing will decrease by the fall. Other findings:

Most buyers see a "normal" material availability trend. Almost 70% of buyers see current supply conditions as normal, 24% see loose conditions, and only 7% believe material availability is tight.

Buyers will begin to build inventories. According to our data, 37% of buyers say their inventories will be higher in the next six months.
