Nancy F. Mailhot was recently promoted to vice president of global sourcing for Phelps Dodge. She had been serving as vice president of global sourcing for its subsidiary, Phelps Dodge Mining Co.
Asante Technologies has named David Kichar as vice president of operations. Kichar comes to Asante with experience in global material management, sourcing, supplier relations, logistics, and program management for companies including Celestica, Solectron, A-Plus Manufacturing, and CMAC Industries.
Mike Zelkind has been named to the newly created position of executive vice president of supply chain and merchandising for 99 Cents Only stores. Zelkind comes to the position from his post as vice president of inventory management and supply chain systems at ConAgra Foods' multibillion dollar Retail Products Group division. Prior to joining ConAgra in 1999, Zelkind was a management consultant focusing on supply chain effectiveness and strategic sourcing for AT Kearney.
BellSouth's Deborah Stone, corporate supplier diversity manager, was honored as the National Minority Supplier Development Council's (NMSDC) Minority Business Enterprise Coordinator of the Year. The award, presented at NMSDC 's annual conference and awards banquet in Washington, D.C., recognized Stone for exemplary dedication and service to minority business development. Stone has led BellSouth's supplier diversity program since 1997 and is the chair of the Georgia Minority Supplier Development Council.
Air-filtration and purification products maker StrionAir recently appointed Scott Denning as its new senior vice president of supply chain management and operations. Prior to joining StrionAir, Denning was vice president of global purchasing and logistics for specialty electronics manufacturer ICX Global and previously vice president of supply chain management at Primestar, a satellite-based video entertainment services company.
Wafer level packing applications maker NEXX Systems recently named Yoel Roznitsky its new director of global sourcing. Roznitsky comes to NEXX with eight years' experience in the semiconductor equipment industry, most recently at Axcelis Technologies where he was responsible for global and strategic sourcing activities.
Universal Automotive Industries promoted William Stock to senior vice president of supply chain from his previous position of vice president of manufacturing. Among Stock's new responsibilities will be to lead a team charged with accelerating the implementation of a cross-functional business program between internal and external suppliers, distribution and purchasing. He reports directly to Arvin Scott, Universal's president and chief executive officer.
Biotech firm Swiss Medica recently named Bob Esson as its vice president of logistics and supply-chain management. Esson will be based at the company's contract manufacturing facility in Dallas. Previously, Esson was in charge of plant management for Quaker Oats, both in the U.S. and at overseas locations.
Consumer electronics firm GoVideo recently named Jim Smith its vice president of product marketing, home products. Smith's primary focus at GoVideo will be to enhance the company's product sourcing and inventory management capabilities, as well as to design product marketing strategies to stay ahead of rapidly changing market conditions. Smith brings more than 25 years of experience with well-known national companies to GoVideo, most recently with Sears, Roebuck & Co., where he spent 11 years serving as the company's buyer for video systems.
