Electronics manufacturing services firm Jabil Circuit is expanding into Vietnam. The firm has invested $30 million and started building a production facility in Vietnam’s Saigon High-Tech Park. A company statement says the 55,000 square foot facility is scheduled to be operational in June.
In a MarketWatch report, Nguyen Dinh Mai, who heads the SHTP, said Jabil is the second U.S company which has invested in the high-tech park after Intel Corp.
The Tampa Bay Business Journal quotes Beth Walters, an investor relations contact for Jabil as saying, "This is our initial foray into a new location where we're going to begin production fairly shortly. We haven't talked any specifics of what we're going to do here, but generally what we like to do is get the plant on the ground and talk about our successes after we're in there and doing that."
