Demand for Geothermal Energy Rises

Large scale geothermal generators are about to go mainstream. Trailblazers AltaRock Energy, Geothermix and Ormat Technologies are looking to build plants that will provide 50 megawatts of electricity, about the same as some natural gas-fired plants. Economists say this is part of a boomlet of 100 geothermal plants with a combined annual output of 4,000 megawatts.
