J.D. Power & Associates forecasts 2008 light-vehicle sales to fall to 13.6 million units, a 16% decline from 16.1 million in 2007. J.D. Power's prediction for 2009 sales has been revised downward to 13.2 million vehicles. The forecast says a "global collapse in vehicle sales remains a possibility" for next year because of dropped sales in China, India and Western Europe as well North America.
