World Trade Organization will be lobbied by U.S. next month to impose permanent global ban on taxes and tariffs on Internet commerce. Clinton Administration and Congress are opposed to tax on transmission of digital data that was proposed by a United Nations committee as a way for developing countries to gain revenue. The 134-nation WTO last year adopted one-year moratorium on Internet tariffs and discriminatory taxes. However, several European nations want to impose their value-added taxes on goods sold on Web. U.S. also opposes VAT taxation.
