The recent decrease in NAND flash memory prices is resulting in major flash memory manufacturers reducing production although new products such as smart phones, MP3s, and low-priced personal computers that use NAND soon will be shipping.
Hynix earlier announced it will reduce production at its 8-inch fabricating plant. Now, IM Flash says it will delay production at its new Singapore 12-inch fab shop to late 2009, according to Taiwan-based researcher DRAMeXchange. Samsung, Toshiba and SanDisk also are considering slowing down their first quarter 2009 wafer capacity growth rate or keeping flat from late 2008.
