Key Plastics received the 2004 Supplier Quality Award from Nissan North America at its 2005 Supplier Quality Award Ceremony recently. This is the second time Key Plastics has won the most prestigious supplier award from Nissan North America. Key Plastics won the Chassis Business Unit category for the ongoing supply of power-steering reservoirs. Key Plastics also earned Nissan's 2004 Quality Master Award for the seventh consecutive year and the 2004 Zero Defects Award for the fourth straight year during the program.

SBC Communications recognized Alcatel as an outstanding supplier this year. Alcatel provides communication solutions to telecommunication carriers, Internet service providers and enterprises for delivery of voice, data and video applications. Alcatel cited its work on Project Lightspeed as a recent example of their ability to tie different groups and people around a common goal. Alcatel was one of 47 suppliers who were recognized for their work with SBC in the past year.

Applied Industrial Technologies was selected as a PPG Industries Excellent Supplier for 2004. Each year, PPG rates selected suppliers based on criteria of quality, delivery, documentation, innovation, responsiveness, and commercial value including participation in its $AVE program, which tracks suppliers' efforts to provide hard cost and soft cost savings. Pittsburgh-based PPG, a global leader in the manufacturing of coatings, glass, fiberglass and chemicals, relies on Applied Industrial Technologies to provide engineering, design and systems integration for industrial and fluid-power applications as well as customized mechanical, fabricated rubber and fluid-power shop services.

Miller Brewing Co. recognized label producer Multi-Color Corp. as its Supplier of the Year for the third time. Miller Brewing, which works with more than 8,500 suppliers, also named Multi-Color as one of its Partners in Excellence, an elite group of suppliers who excel in quality, service, cost competitiveness, innovation, and supplier diversity. Multi-Color, based in Cincinnati, Ohio, has supplied Miller Brewing with labels for more than 50 years.

NEC Electronics America won Tektronic's Preferred Supplier Award. Tektronic, a leading provider of test, measurement and monitoring instrumentation worldwide, recognized NEC Electronics America for their continued supply of liquid crystal display (LCD) modules. NEC Electronics America is a global leader in innovative display technologies. Tektronic cited NEC's record for on-time delivery and response time, and product quality and standards in making the award.

Plymouth Supply Chain Operations awarded Reptron Manufacturing Services, a division of Reptron Electronics, its Unisys Supplier Excellence award. Reptron Manufacturing Services offers full electronics manufacturing services including complex circuit board assembly, complete supply chain services and manufacturing-engineering services to OEMs across many industries. It was recognized for its performance based on quality, on-time delivery, pricing, and overall customer service. It provides Unisys with electronics assemblies for its check sorting and semiconductor testing business.

Chemcentral was named 2004 Supplier of the Year by Dow Corning, for Chemcentral's commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction. Headquartered in Chicago, Chemcentral set a benchmark for other companies, said Dennis Buckler, Dow Corning Americas Procurement Manager, who presented the award. He said, "Chemcentral has provided more than a 95% rate of on-time delivery and is 97% error-free."

Hard-drive maker Seagate Technology of Scotts Valley, Calif., announced the winners of its Outstanding Supplier Awards for 2005: Belton Group, Hoya Corp. and Xyratex. The awards were presented to the suppliers for delivering consistently high performance in the areas of quality, technology availability, delivery, flexibility and cost management.
Karl Chicca, senior vice president of global materials for Seagate, said, "Much of Seagate's success in fiscal-year 2005 can be credited to the quality, technology, delivery and flexibility of our supply base. We continued to improve our industry-leading supply chain over the last year and received tremendous support from our suppliers to meet our customer demand. It was no small feat and I thank them for their hard work and contribution."
The Belton Group, a manufacturer of Arm Coil Assembly and Hook-Up, was this year's Outstanding Supplier in the Mechanical Components Category for delivering aggressive volume requirements and meeting Seagate's quality, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and technology metrics.
Hoya Corp., which supplies Seagate with glass substrates, was awarded the Outstanding Supplier Award in the Meda/Suspension category. Hoya's execution, technology and flexibility were key elements of Seagate's success throughout the year.
Xyratex was honored as Outstanding Supplier in the Manufacturing Capital Equipment category. Xyratex, a provider of capital equipment to Seagate's manufacturing sites, responded proactively to Seagate's accelerated demand schedule, which helped reduce total leadtime for new equipment.
Besides responsive and dependable suppliers, Seagate developed a plan of action to gain the reputation as a supply chain leader by improving supply chain transparency and accelerate its demand-driven transformation.
