Kansas City Southern and Norfolk Southern have completed a joint venture to increase capacity and improve service on the Meridian Speedway, a stretch of track between Meridian, Miss., and Shreveport, La. Under the agreement, which has been approved by the Surface Transportation Board, KC Southern retains 70% ownership of the Meridian Speedway and Norfolk Southern owns the remaining 30% and will spend $300 million for capital improvements to the line.
