  • DRAM tags will fall

    Staff -- Purchasing, 10/21/2004 2:00:00 AM

There have been some modest price hikes for double data rate DRAM on the spot market, but higher tags won't last. Reason: Inventory levels are high and the spot market price will correct itself.

The price of a 32x8 DDR33/400 DRAM had increased from a $4.60-$4.80 range to $4.70-$4.85 in September, according to independent distributor Fusion. However, overall demand is weak and the price will fall back.

Tags for 8x16 SDRAM s fell from $4.00 to the $3.70 vicinity in September. The 4x16 SDRAM price has also dropped from about $1.75 to $1.50. Prices for 256 megabit prices have been stable in the $5.10-$5.20 range.
