    • bulbs.com, a privately held e-commerce light bulb supplier, has opened a second distribution center near Columbus, Ohio. The facility will house 300 of the most popular commercial lamps and ballasts and speed delivery of full case orders to customers throughout the mid-Atlantic, Midwest and Sunbelt states. bulbs.com's Massachusetts distribution center will continue to ship full case orders to customers in the northeast as well as provide world-wide service for all less-than-case orders.

    • Barnes Distribution has become an Ariba Supplier Advantage Program member. Barnes and Ariba entered into the agreement to establish a formal relationship to consistently serve mutual customers focused on MRO category spend management. The ASA program helps suppliers to develop, deploy and expand integration to customers through the Ariba Supplier Network.

    • Graybar has expanding its traditional communications and electrical product portfolio to include security and notification products to address the growing demands of communications resellers and electrical contractors. As such, it has added surveillance cameras, access control devices, and notification systems for distribution throughout its logistics network of 250 locations nationwide.

    • Save the date: The National Association of Procurement and Payables (NAPP) professionals holds its annual conference "Innovamation 2005" at Disney's Contemporary Resort-Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla. on February 6-9.     • Applied Industrial Technologies has received the 2003 Silver Alliance Supplier Award from Vulcan Materials Company. Vulcan presents this honor annually based on a review that rates each supplier on quality of product, service, support, ease of doing business and value. Applied received the Bronze Alliance Supplier Award from Vulcan in 2000 and the Silver Alliance Supplier Award for the past three consecutive years. More than 200 Applied service centers provide Vulcan facilities with bearings, power transmission products, rubber products and specialty maintenance items in addition to technical assistance and systems expertise.

    • As part of its market expansion program, Grainger is enhancing local product availability and sales coverage in Houston, St. Louis and Tampa. Over the next year, the company plans to expects to add $10 million in inventory and almost 200,000 sq. ft. in space in these three markets.
