  • Few buyers see better business in the next quarter

    Staff -- Purchasing, 4/19/2001 2:00:00 AM

Electronics buyers are not optimistic about business over the next 90 days, according to PURCHASING Magazine's monthly survey of buying conditions for March.

Only 15% in March said they expected business to get better in the next quarter while 40% thought it would worsen. At the same time the percentage of buyers who though they would increase purchase orders over the next 90 days dropped from 47% in February to 29% in March. Forty percent of buyers also said they were reducing their inventory. That's up from 29% in February.

Sixty-one percent say prices are steady and 55% report there are no parts in short supply.
