  • MSC Industrial Direct releases new catalogs

    The MRO distributor adds fastener lines, metalworking products

    MSC Industrial Direct has published two new catalogs. The first, volume III of its fastener source book, features 3,000 new products. The second provides a new source of information on the company’s line of Accupro metalworking products.

    Based on customer feedback, the industrial distributor added more than 3,000 new products to this most recent edition of its fastener source book, including items that are directly related to fasteners.

    “Our catalog development is based on continuous dialogue with our customers concerning how we can better meet their needs for fastening and related products,” said Grey Levy, senior director of MRO at MSC in Melville, N.Y.

    New to the catalog are 700 socket products that are manufactured in the U.S. Other additions include 18-8 and 316 stainless steel fasteners in a variety of product categories. Also added: Material handling bins and drawers used to house fasteners, hand tools and cordless drills, among others.

    At the same time, MSC has added a new catalog for its Accupro brand of metalworking products. The company has been distributing the line exclusively for more than 10 years and selling it through its MSC big book catalog.

    With strong sales—today the brand represents 10,000 items—MSC has decided to print a 100-page catalog devoted just to its Accupro products.

    "Accupro was created to provide our customers with a combination of productivity savings as well as product cost savings when compared with many nationally branded products,” said Erik Gershwind, senior vice president of marketing and product management. “Popular with customers, we have continually expanded the offering year after year, and reached a point where Accupro warranted its own catalog.”

    As such, MSC is able to include in the new publication such features as technical specs, machining guidelines, training tips and product conversion guides. 

    With $1.69 billion in annual sales, MSC places 12th on Industrial Distribution magazine’s Big 50 list for 2008.
