IT Spending to Jump 8% This Year

Worldwide information technology purchasing will exceed $3.4 trillion in 2008, an increase of 8% from 2007 spending, according to researcher Gartner. Broken down by segments, software spending will grow 10%, IT services will rise 9.4% and hardware will increase 4%. Many businesses are in the middle of an upgrade cycle that should extend past the end of the decade, according to the researcher.
