Purchasing managers buy about $10 billion worth of folding cartons every year. Andy Willie, executive director of the Independent Carton Group, has a few suggestions for making sure buyers get what they want:
Consider using a local manufacturer, so you can inspect before delivery.
Be sure the manufacturer can actually do the graphics you want.
Check to see that the company has the right press for your work.
Make a structural dummy of the carton with all the right specs.
Ask to speak to the Prep Department manager. He'll tell you if your requirements are practical, and help you deal with the manufacturer's marketing department.
When you do a drop test of the folding carton, do it with the carton fully loaded with goods.
