  • What's Hot

    Susan Avery -- Purchasing, 10/7/2004 2:00:00 AM

News from the MRO Buyers Group conference in Las Vegas at the end of August is that spend analysis is hot, hot, hot. MRO industry analyst Tim Underhill of Underhill & Associates led an hour-long session on the topic for the 130 MRO buyers attending the conference. The session generated lots of interest, especially in the use of commodity codes when conducting an analysis of a company's spending on indirect materials. The topic of spend analysis (and the use of commodity codes) will be discussed in-depth during a keynote session at PURCHASING magazine's online Global Procurement Conference on Oct. 13. Representatives of purchasing operations at companies Microsoft, Intel and Lucent—will take part in the session. Tim Underhill, along with Laurence Toney of eBay, will participate in a panel discussion on "Successful MRO Category Management" also during the conference on Oct. 14.
