Danzas freight forwarding (soon to be Danzas-AEI) is becoming a serious challenger to Federal Express and United Parcel Service in the global air freight and express markets. Deutsche Post (Europe's biggest mail, parcel and logistics company) will spend $1.14 billion to buy Air Express International of Darien, Conn., the No. 1 U.S. air freight forwarder, which arranges about two million shipments per year to more than 3,000 cities in 200 countries. Air Express will be merged into the company's Zurich-based Danzas freight-forwarding firm.
