PURCHASING magazine's upcoming Global Procurement Conference features a keynote session on indirect procurement, "Scale Up: Push Indirect Sourcing to the Global Level." The session, on Thursday, April 14 at 11 a.m. Eastern, will feature purchasing professionals from Hewlett-Packard, American Express and Intel, and will be moderated by Susan Avery, senior editor of PURCHASING magazine. The three panelists will discuss their companies' strategies, challenges and successes for global indirect procurement and will respond to questions from the audience during a live Q&A session.
On the panel are:
-
Larry Welch, vice president of indirect procurement at Hewlett-Packard. HP was the recipient of PURCHASING magazine's Medal of Professional Excellence for 2004. Welch led the transformation of HP's indirect procurement operations from a set of fragmented, locally managed processes to a leveraged global procurement function.
-
Steve Squadere, vice president of strategic sourcing at American Express. A key member of the procurement transformation team at American Express, Squadere provides strategic direction and general management of the Global Procurement Strategic Sourcing—U.S. and international—and Relationship Management teams.
-
Kinnar Ghiya, eProcurement sourcing program manager at Intel. Ghiya is driving indirect materials sourcing transformation globally through a 5-Step process. Within two years, Intel has used the process to source 95% of its indirect spend. (See related Buylines story on p. 16)
