Bell Microproducts, a provider of storage products and solutions, has been awarded the prestigious STAR award by Lockheed Martin recognizing the supplier's achievements in meeting some of the most stringent performance criteria in the aerospace industry. Bell Microproducts was recognized as a Best-in-Class Product meeting the established criteria in Lockheed Martin's Supplier Performance Evaluation metrics that measure quality, delivery, affordability and management/administration. Suppliers achieve STAR recognition on three levels including facility, perfect product, and best-in-class product.
Nortel Networks honored its strategic and preferred suppliers with the presentation of its annual Supplier Awards. Supplier of the Year went to Motorola Computer Group. Supplier Representative of the Year was Don Donaldson of AMD. The award for Innovation for technology suppliers went to Wind River Systems while Mercury Alliance won the "Innovation for services suppliers" award. The award for Quality and Service for technology suppliers was given to Agilent Technologies and Convergys Corp.'s customer management group won the Quality and Service Award for services suppliers.
PPG Industries recently presented 11 Excellent Supplier Awards for supplier performance in 2003. Award criteria included product quality, delivery, documentation, innovation, responsiveness, continuous improvement and participation in PPG's Supplier Added Value Effort ($AVE) program. The companies earning the 2003 Excellent Supplier Award are: Arrow Uniform, based in Taylor, Mich.; Bayer Polymers of Pittsburgh; Consolidated Electrical Distributors based in Westlake Village, Calif.; truckload carrier Combined Transport of Central Point, Ore.; Chicago-based Executive Relocation services; transportation services provider J.B. Hunt Dedicated Services of Lowell, Ark. and KW Plastics of Troy, Ala. Also receiving awards were Italian firm Mamor which provides disposable totes and Rohm of Darmstadt, Germany which supplies methacrylates to PPG's automotive. Thioplast Chemicals of Greiz, Germany also received recognition for supplying liquid polysulfide polymers, to European locations of PPG's aerospace products business as did Wolf Container & Chemical, Sewickley, Pa., which supplies clay and calcium carbonate to PPG's U.S. architectural, industrial and automotive original equipment and refinish coatings businesses, as well as the aerospace products unit.
