New iPhone will help stabilize flash memory prices
NAND flash chip prices should stabilize and then increase later in the year

The launch of Apple's new 3GS smart phone will help stabilize NAND flash memory prices. According to researcher DRAMeXchange, NAND prices have been falling because of weak seasonal demand. Contract prices for multi-level cell NAND flash memory fell 1-6% in the first half of the month, says the researcher.
Buyers can expect NAND flash suppliers to try to stabilize prices to improve their profitability during the slow reason for flash, which typically runs from May to July. DRAMeXchange says the new smartphone will help stabilize flash memory prices later in the year because it will result in increased demand for NAND devices. The new iPhone is available in three models with 8, 16 or 32 gigabytes of NAND flash.
NAND flash contract prices are likely to slightly soften or stay stable early in the third quarter, but then gradually rise when re-stock demand kicks in later in the year.
