Grainger has published a new occupational health and safety catalog. The industrial distributor recently doubled its safety offering to include more footwear, clothing and training and reference materials. The catalog is organized by key safety issues and Occupational Safety and Heath Administration (OSHA) standards.
The National Safety Council reports that the average lost-time injury costs nearly $30,000. Ensuring facilities have the proper safety supplies can reduce and prevent the chance of workplace accidents, ultimately impacting a company's bottom line.
"While companies make an honest effort to comply with OSHA regulations, our customers tell us that it isn't always easy to keep things up to date," says Deb Oler, vice president, Grainger [Industrial Supply] Brand, in Lake Forest, Ill. "As the largest distributor of safety supplies, Grainger provides the expertise, resources and products needed to help businesses and institutions maintain regulatory compliance, reduce accident and injury rates and decrease operating costs."
In addition to using the new catalog, customers can also stay current on the latest trends in safety through the company's free "On the Job" webinars that feature third-party industry experts speaking on a variety of safety topics including arc flash, lockout tagout and fall protection.
Grainger offers customers access to safety sales specialists who can connect customers with key safety suppliers to provide technical expertise that includes surveys, hazard assessments, and compliance audits.
Grainger also helps businesses manage their inventory of safety supplies, including first aid cabinets and eyewash stations, through its Inventory Solutions program.
Purchasing professionals with responsibility for the MRO (maintenance, repair and operations) buy look to their distributors to provide additional products and services, according to results of a recent Purchasing reader survey.
With $6.9 billion in annual sales in 2008, Grainger places in the fourth spot on Industrial Distribution's Big 50 list of industrial distributors for 2009.
