Nand Output may Rise

After making some dramatic production cutbacks, NAND flash memory producers may be ready to start ramping up again. Toshiba reportedly cut NAND production by 30% in the first half and in June the company put construction of new NAND plants in Japan on hold. But Toshiba last month received a $500 million order from iPhone-maker Apple Inc. for flash-memory chips, as part of a long-term supply agreement, stabilizing Toshiba's order books enough that it may be ready to start boosting its NAND production again.
