Acetone Prices Tick Up

Acetone market prices have increased 4¢ to an average 47¢/lb this month, buyers report, not only because supply is tight but also because of a 5¢/lb increase in feedstock propylene contract costs and confusion over market pricing mechanisms. Wilf Kimball, vice president at the Plaza Group, says "we are seeing a repeat of 2008 (with) propylene prices dictating higher acetone pricing."
