MSC Industrial Direct Co.'s
Atlanta customer fulfillment center has received the State of Georgia's Commissioner's
Award for Outstanding Safety Performance.
The Georgia Department of Labor annually recognizes top-performing companies
for outstanding safety performance. MSC Atlanta received the award this year
for its dedication, commitment and involvement demonstrated by management and
the workforce, as well as its results in safety performance.
One criteria for the award is documentation that the company experienced at
least 250 days in the calendar year when no associate missed time due to
workplace injury or illness. Other important factors are MSC Atlanta's
partnerships with Chubb Insurance Company and local contractors, as well as
demonstrated teamwork among internal departments. MSC also implemented two new
systems that focus on "distracted working" and ergonomics to improve the safety
of the workforce.
"We are honored to be the recipients of this prestigious award," says
Brian Nulty, regional ES&H manager at MSC Industrial Supply Co. "We
will continue to forge strong partnerships with contractors, insurance
companies and internal departments to ensure the continuation of our workplace
safety efforts."
With $1.78 billion in annual sales, MSC is the 12th largest company on Industrial Distribution's Big 50 list of industrial distributors for 2009.
