CAPACITY CHANGES

Kyowa Hakko Kogyo Co., Ltd. has launched major expansion of Japanese facilities of its subsidiary, Kyowa Yuka Co., Ltd., to increase capacity for isononanoic acid and synthetic fatty acids, including 2-ethylhexanoic acid.

Dow Chemical will upgrade its chelants manufacturing facility at Freeport, Texas, over the next three years. Debottlenecking and new reactors will boost production by over 30%.

basf Corp. has expanded capacity for nylon 6 engineering resins at its plant in Freeport, Texas.

Akzo will build a new plant at Lima, Ohio, for ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA), diethylene triamine pentaacetic acid (DTPA) and other chelates. Construction is expected to be completed in two to three years.
