Not to be outdone, General Motors Corp. will join forces with FAW Jinbei to build as many 30,000 light trucks a year at an existing plant in northern China beginning in 1999. Through a separate partnership with Shanghai Automotive Industries, GM will also produce 100,000 Buick sedans a year beginning in 1999.
