NAPM joins NISCI

By Staff -- Purchasing, 1/15/1998

The National Association of Purchasing Management (NAPM) has thrown its weight behind the recently-formed National Initiative for Supply Chain Integration (NISCI) of Chicago. NAPM has joined Chrysler, Deere & Company, Harley-Davidson, Honda of America, Proctor & Gamble, the Trane Co., and Supply America as a founding member of NISCI.

Says Paul Novak, executive vice president and chief operating officer for NAPM: "We believe that tremendous opportunities exist for NAPM to further its educational mission for its members through a relationship with NISCI. NISCI has assembled the 'best of best' on its board of directors--an action-oriented think tank which we believe will develop solutions to many of the issues affecting supply chains."

Formed in September 1997, NISCI's mission is to research and develop the most effective solutions to optimize the performance of supply chains comprising three links or more [PUR: Oct. 23, '97; p. 32]. NISCI is a non-profit organization which functions through a board of directors consisting of end-product producers, raw material firms, and small- to medium-sized intermediate processors.
