Corporate Software takes new initiatives to purchasing managers
By Staff -- Purchasing, 1/15/1998
Corporate Software & Technology, Norwood, Mass., recently held two separate series of seminars for corporate software buyers nationwide. In one, the software reseller introduced its new Internet ordering process; in the second, it outlined its strategy for helping buyers implement software asset-management programs. Separately, CS&T also introduced a new financing option. These activities, John Shagoury, president, CS&T North America, explains, are helping CS&T evolve "from a tactical software supplier to a strategic partner" in corporate purchasing decisions.
CS&T's new online ordering process, for instance, allows buyers to securely acquire, track, and manage software purchases via a standard Internet browser. "CorpSoft-EC" has the capability to help buyers with such activities as ensuring that purchases meet company standards.
"The system is fully customizable to accommodate specific, changing needs of customers," says Steve Muccini, director of electronic commerce programs. "Some may use CorpSoft-EC to buy and order software, while others may want to use it to look up product information or check inventories."
With CorpSoft-EC, CS&T also provides customers a flexible approach to setting up an online approval process.
CorpSoft-EC helps customers enforce requirements of a software publisher's license program as well. "Smart Buy" function warns users when they are attempting to make a purchase outside their license agreement and steers them toward an approved license purchase.
Version 1.0 features: product search and browse, custom price information, order status, and reporting capabilities. It embraces business standards promoted by the Open Buying on the Internet (OBI) consortium.
