NACDEF changes name, broadens scope
By Staff -- Purchasing, 2/12/1998
The National Association of Chemical Distributors Educational Foundation has a new name: The Chemical Educational Foundation (CEF). The name change reflects the broadened scope of the product-stewardship efforts of the foundation, and will enable the Foundation to tap more chemical industry sources in its effort to promote the responsible management of chemicals and chemical products. The CEF produces educational materials that help chemical producers, distributors, and users meet their product-stewardship responsibilities of handling chemicals safely through the entire life cycle of a product. The Foundation also produces educational materials for communities and the general public, including materials for school children.
The Foundation was set up several years ago and has been run under the umbrella of nacd and a board of trustees that consists of distributors, producers, members of the chemical trade press, heads of chemical associations and other related associations, and other volunteers. The broadened scope of the Foundation is an attempt to avoid duplication of efforts by different associations, and to take full advantage of the well-established network of customers in various end markets who are served by chemical distributors.
