OSHA regs delayed again
By Staff -- Purchasing, 2/12/1998
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (osha) again has postponed the compliance deadlines for the 25-ppm methylene chloride permissible exposure limit (PEL) for many users."As a result of the pending proposal, osha is expected to delay compliance with the 25-ppm PEL until between April 1999 and April 2000 for companies in identified sectors," says Steve Rissotto, executive director, Center for Emissions Control, Halogenated Solvent Industry Alliance, Inc., Washington, D.C. Industries affected by the proposal include construction, foam manufacturing, furniture stripping, product formulation, small-aircraft stripping, and companies using methylene chloride-based adhesives for foam fabrication, boat and RV manufacturing, upholstery, and van conversion.
